The rules are way more complicated than the original Card Crawl or Card Thief (which, I love both) - but there are tons of fun combos and interactions that let you pull some pretty wild stuff. Plus the whole thing has this weird sort of meta-narrative where you're a brave adventurer delving dungeons and fighting monsters, except all that's happening in a card game you're playing against the bosses as you drink them under the table and skip out on the tab.

If your fan previous games made by Arnold Rauers, this game is very solid, and I recommend it. For a first time player, who especially has not played Card Thief, the games visual language can be quite confusing and tutorial could use a bit more clarifications (for a while because of misunderstanding/misread I thought I HAD to pay the barkeep before being able to finishing a map).

All expect 1 character behind paywall with no option to buy. Ones of those game where developer just disabled all the in-app purchases before publishing on Google's Play pass.

Don't feel like I'm doing anything in this game. You just select cards & random things happen. Doesn't seem to matter what you pick, things happen & you're not really in control of it. The original game was all about every move you made counted. In this one, seems like you're picking cards & whatever happens. It looks like a lot was put into the artwork & different cards, but it feels like you're not having any effect on anything. Card animations are way too slow also. Feels sluggish.

I love love love Card Thief, and I really want to like this game, but it's much more complicated and even with the tutorial, it's confusing.
