After many more uses of this product and app, I had to change my review. The Egg Genius keeps a constant temp during cooking. Best for long duration meat smoking. I recommend an update to this app to calculate a meat temp trend to predict approximately when meat will reach oneness.

This is the worst app to device connection. It should be a simple set it, and it forgets without connecting your phone. My phone never can connect to it.

Will not Log in, or stay logged in. I live in Switzerland. Account creation repeatedly failed silently. I finally succeeded with a US VPN and a different email. Then it couldn't connect to my Egg Genius. I exited, realized that I still had my VPN on, turned it off, but then I couldn't log in, and the app just gave a blank screen after that. I reinstalled, and repeatedly failed to log in with or without VPN over multiple reinstallations. The app freezes on startup if you kill it after log in fails.

The user interface is terrible for the high price tag of the controller. The initial setup instructions are wrong. I had to Google and figure out how to port into the thing using its IP address, which would have been fine if they'd just put that in the instructions. App crashes a lot. You can't even use all the features unless you connect to it online. I'd love to talk to a developer about how to fix this UI. Just selecting your pit and meat temp is a pain. I wouldn't buy it if I were you.
