Great product and application. Device set up is unconventional, but easy
enough by following directions. I have one Roost battery in the house
interconnected smoke detector near the kitchen. Since the Roost Smart
Battery "listens" for alarms, it also detects (and appropriately
identifies) when my separate carbon monoxide and natural gas detectors are
set off, and of course when any interconnected smoke detector alerts. I
also have a fire detector with a Roost battery in both my house garage and
pole barn (smoke detectors are not suitable for unheated spaces, so a fire
detector that detects and alerts on rate of heat rise is the way to go).
Lastly, I have a couple Roost water detectors in the basement (one by the
water heater, and one by the sump pump. I have a separate Wi-Fi router in
the pole barn to support Wi-Fi, streaming, and the Roost battery in the fire
detector. Overall, the system works great. The Roost app is installed on
every smart device we have (kids & wife's iPhones, an iPad, an Android
tablet and an Android phone. All alert reliably. Great peace of mind -
especially when not at home or kids are alone in the house. Fantastic
investment. We did have a challenge early in the product's launch with
Android alerting properly. An e-mail to their support brought a prompt
attentiveness and an app update that they confirmed with us that it
resolved the problem. Very pleased

Batteries simply won't connect. Product and company seem dead.

Do not purchase Roost products or install this app until this company resolves their issues. Roost is supposedly changing the monitoring process so for now it doesn't work properly. You CAN NOT count on proper notifications on android phones should you have a fire and your smoke detector goes off. They used to allow for multiple persons monitoring. Now they don't, so if you work in a high noise environment you will miss an alarm as your significant other can not monitor your Roost device.

Being one of the user and a beliver in this product since launch on Kickstarter back on 2015. After 3 years of use, I can conclude thet this product is over-advertised, as not performing as described: -battery lasts 3 and not 5 years, -when adding a battery app took ages to sincronize with the cloud therefore failures expected and restarting process from scratch, - recently no more support for EU or rest of the world, as product is acredited now only for the USA and Canada! One of the most disappointed experience, was that recently my teenage daughter forget meal in own, kitchen completely in smoke, and NO alert sounded!
