Scenic Tailormade

★★☆☆☆ This was our fourth Scenic cruise and the previous ones were faultless with a conventional Tailor made device with a receiver supplied on board. This time the experience was much less enjoyable through the absence of the original style device. For our cruise in September 2019 we were supplied with an app which was intended for download onto our mobiles. The information part worked well but despite the efforts of the onboard Reception, our Android mobiles were not compatible with the voice guide. So many people had this problem that we were rationed to one compatible receiver which we had to share. Even this receiver was not satisfactory since reception sometimes broke down. This was such a common problem that some guides resorted to having to shout! Our friends had iPhones which were compatible, but their phones overheated, and the batteries were insufficient to last a full day. I wrote to Scenic and had a totally unrepentant reply. We resent being given an unsatisfactory experimental voice guide in place of what we had come to expect, and we would not travel with them again.
