★★★★★ Excellent app. Playing against an opponent whose skill increases along with yours is much better than other apps I've tried. The only feature I wish it had is a history of your wins, losses, and elo.

★★☆☆☆ I'm a new chess player with no knowledge of the game. I am looking for a chess app to teach me how to play. This is the second app I've tried and unfortunately, like the first one I tried, this app does not explain, show, or teach you how to play either. This app gives you tactics to try, but tactics are rather useless if you don't know how to play chess. I will keep searching for an actual beginner-friendly chess app.

★★☆☆☆ I have lowered my rating from 5 stars because Shredder chess has failed to evolve at all. Yes it's a strong engine but that's really it. Do something to make it better. For instance, when it says "that may not have been the best move. Add why? And have it explain why and what it leads to. Add more teachings like classical openings, defenses, variants and again, (a why button if you try variants), famous games library. This app is so old and has changed zero. It 100% was not worth the $7 I paid.
